Tanzania Park Fees and Permits

Every statutory figure on a Tanzania safari is a range, not a fixed number: TANAPA and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority revise park and crater fees most years.

The core cost is the non-resident park fee: roughly USD 50–80 per adult per day in the northern parks. On a seven-day circuit that line alone comes to about USD 350–560 per adult before anything else is counted.

Ngorongoro adds a separate charge of about USD 250–300 per vehicle for each crater descent. The descent drops roughly 610 m from a rim at about 2,200 m to a floor near 1,800 m, and the floor covers about 260 km².

The visa is the third line: about USD 50–100 for most nationalities and about USD 100 for US citizens. A yellow-fever certificate is checked only when arriving from an endemic country, so the routing — not the destination — decides that piece of paperwork.

Put together, the statutory core of a seven-day trip — park fees, one crater descent and a visa — lands roughly between USD 650 and USD 960 per adult, before accommodation, guiding and transport.

Because both the park fees and the crater charge are revised most years, treat every published figure, including these, as a range and reconfirm close to travel; accepted payment methods and rules can change on the same cycle.
